Karen White is a successful leader of accelerator control system organizations and projects. Karen joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2007 as the Control Systems Group Leader for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). Prior to this, she spent 18 years at the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) at Jefferson Lab in a variety of engineering and leadership roles. She has extensive experience with large Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) based control systems and a variety of organizational approaches and project management tools applied in a scientific environment. Karen is also the Controls Integration Manager for the Proton Power Upgrade project at SNS. She is active in leadership roles in the EPICS Collaboration and the International Conference on Accelerator and Large Experimental Physics Controls Systems (ICALEPCS). In addition to her engineering management efforts, Karen works to improve diversity and inclusion in the accelerator controls community. Karen holds an MS in Computer Science from Old Dominion University and an ME in Engineering Management from George Washington University.
