Experience:
- 2016 – present: Proton Power Upgrade Ring Systems and Pre-Ops Manager
- 2011 – 2018: Team Leader for Accelerator Physics, APBIIS Group, SNS.
- 2003 – 2017: Ring Area Manager at the Spallation Neutron Source.
- 1985 – 2003: Various positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory, including Beam Diagnostics Team Leader and Accelerator Physics Team Leader.
Dr. Plum’s graduate and post-doc work was in experimental nuclear physics. In 1985 he joined the Los Alamos Proton Storage Ring project and has been working in the accelerator physics field ever since. He was a task leader for the PSR upgrade project and Level 3 task leader for the Los Alamos portion of beam diagnostics for the SNS project. In 2003 he moved to Oak Ridge and became the Ring Area Manager. He led the SNS Ring commissioning effort and contributed to the SNS beam power ramp up to 1.4 MW. He was Level 2 manager for the initial stages of the Power Upgrade Project and the Second Target Station Project. He has chaired and participated in review committees for a variety of accelerator and neutron source projects and served on national and international scientific conference and workshop organizing committees. He presently serves on the Accelerator Technical Advisory Committees for J-PARC, CSNS, and ESS.
