Neutron Reflectometry Group Leader

Jim Browning is Distinguished R&D Staff member, and Neutron Reflectometry Group Leader, in the Neutron Scattering Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and is an instrument scientist on the Liquids Reflectometer at the SNS. He earned degrees in physics from Augusta University and the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Prior to joining the Neutron Sciences Directorate in 2007 he was a Distinguished Staff Member at Sandia National Laboratories. His research interest at ORNL has mainly focused on materials for energy storage and chemical separations as well as the development and application of neutron reflectometry methods for characterization of interfacial structures in thin film materials.
