Bio
Dr. Matthew Frost is a R&D Staff member specializing in the development, design and operation of world-class neutron scattering instrumentation focused on the discovery of novel materials and their applications in society. In addition, that same expertise is used to perform experiments that further understanding of fundamental neutron physics and its impact on Baryogenesis and Nucleosythesis, processes that are crucial to the early development of our universe.
His research interests include cold neutron beam design for a range of science applications, large-scale simulations of scattering instrumentation, neutron source and beam characterization, neutron and gamma detector development and applications, and novel neutron scattering technique development.
Prior to development work, Matt was in charge of commissioning and operations at three diffraction instruments at the Spallation Neutron Source as a Senior Scientific Associate for 13 years. This included day-to-day operations, experiment design, data reduction and analysis of scattering data, and management of upgrade projects to maintain ORNL's position as a world-class neutron scattering facility.
