Group Leader, SANS and Spin Echo

Dr. William Heller earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University in 1999 before accepting postdoctoral positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  He then joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a member of the Center for Structural Molecular Biology in the Chemical Sciences Division in 2004.  The Center for Structural Molecular Biology constructed and continues to operate the Bio-SANS instrument at the High Flux Isotope Reactor.  In 2011, Dr. Heller transitioned to the lead instrument scientist on the EQ-SANS instrument of the Spallation Neutron Source.  Most recently, he because the Group Leader for the SANS and Spin Echo Group of the Large Scale Structures Section of the Neutron Scattering Division.  The focus of his research is membrane biophysics.
