Mary-Ellen Donnelly

VENUS Scientific Associate

Mary-Ellen is the Scientific Associate for the VENUS time-of-flight neutron imaging beamline currently under construction at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS).

Before joining the imaging team, Mary-Ellen previously held postdoctoral researcher positions in the Neutron Scattering Division’s High-Pressure Science Initiative at ORNL, and at the Center for High Pressure Science and Technology Advanced Research (HPSTAR) in Shanghai. At ORNL, her research focused on using neutron scattering to study the behavior of systems containing light elements such as hydrogen under high pressures and extending the high-pressure capabilities of both elastic and inelastic scattering instruments at the High Flux Isotope Reactor and SNS.

Mary-Ellen earned her MPhys and PhD degrees at The University of Edinburgh where she studied hydrogen hydrate clathrates and other inclusion compounds with neutron diffraction.
