Senior Technical Professional

Jaimie Werner is a Senior Technical Professional supporting the research work planning and control management system in the Safety and Operations Services Division. As part of her role, she is the Change Practitioner on the Activity-Based Work Control (ABWC) project team. The ABWC project aims to modernize the existing research and operations work control systems, creating a single system for all ORNL staff.

From 2020 through 2022, Jaimie was the Labs & Soft Matter Group Leader. The Group's mission was to facilitate pioneering science by providing reliable support services, efficient sample management, convenient laboratory spaces, and cutting-edge soft matter sample environments. Prior to becoming Group Lead, she was the Team Lead of the User Labs and Sample Support team (2013-2020), a team of technicians who provided internal and external users and staff with lab and experiment support at the Spallation Neutron Source, High Flux Isotope Reactor, and Shull Wollan Center.

Jaimie joined ORNL in 2010 as a scientific laboratory technician. During her time at ORNL she has led various projects that have improved processes affecting the user experience at ORNL. Notable projects include the Sample Check-In Program at SNS and HFIR that addressed sample control issues, upgrading the sample tracking database (ITEMS), complete overhaul of the Sample Activation Calculator (SAC) to fit the growing needs of the facility, coordinating the buildout of a Biological Safety Level 2 lab, streamlining sample management at SNS and HFIR, improving communication between NSD LSMs, and the lab-wide ABWC project.

Jaimie has also chaired Women in Neutron Sciences (2017) and the NScD Diversity & Inclusion Initiative (2020).
