The 13th International Workshop on Spallation Materials Technology (IWSMT-13) was successfully hosted by SNS in Chattanooga October 30 – November 4, 2016. There were 60 participants from 10 nations representing more than 10 institutions.
The participants shared their latest irradiated material science developments and facility status reports. Material and technology issues associated with spallation sources, accelerator driven systems, and high-energy beam intercepting devices were covered. The keynote speaker was Dr. Steven Zinkle, University of Tennessee. Select abstracts were solicited for manuscript submission to the Journal of Nuclear Materials for possible publication.
The next IWSMT was agreed to be hosted by Japan in 2018.
