Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Quantum Condensed Matter Division (QCMD) enables and conducts a broad program of research on condensed matter physics using neutron techniques at both the SNS and HFIR facilities. The science conducted by QCMD emphasizes materials with emergent properties that are manifestly quantum in origin; some examples include superconductors, multiferroics, and exotic magnets. Neutron scattering provides unique and pivotal information about quantum materials and QCMD collaborates widely with researchers from the US and elsewhere in the world to make these tools available for the best forefront science.
