General Chemistry Laboratory

The General Chemistry Laboratory is located on the second floor of the SNS Central Laboratory and Office Building (CLO). This laboratory is available for use to all users and staff with approved neutron scattering experiments and offers various commonly used consumables, supplies, and equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, common solvents (e.g. Acetone, Ethanol, Isopropanol, Methanol), fume hoods, a helium atmosphere MBRAUN glove box, a vacuum oven, gravity ovens, a box furnace (1100⁰C), centrifuges, sonicators, water baths, FTIR and UV vis instruments, and a lyophilizer. Visit our laboratory support page for a full list of provided consumables. Advanced planning for laboratory work can be coordinated with the laboratory space manager to ensure availability of supplies, equipment, and appropriate laboratory space for the duration of the experiment.
